New Sustainability Framework Boosts Resources for Licensing Industry, UCLA
By Liz Kennedy, Director, Sustainability, UCLA Trademarks & Licensing
UCLA Trademarks & Licensing now has a new reference and action tool to help guide licensors, licensees, agents, service providers, retailers, and other stakeholders toward sustainable practices that our campuses and communities urgently demand.
Called the Sustainability Framework and developed by licensing industry organization in which UCLA is a member called Products of Change, the Framework provides guidance to licensing industry organizations for adopting and implementing sustainable practices in all that they do. Helena Mansell-Stopher, CEO of Products of Change, said “The POC Industry Framework is the first resource of its kind for the industry, with more supportive elements to launch over the coming months. We are extremely proud to be working closely with UCLA to drive industry collaboration forward.”
The Sustainability Framework takes a long-term, developmental view toward helping the myriad organizations involved in the licensing business model to build strong and sustainable licensing businesses. Having a model of “what good looks like” that is tailored for the licensing business model is a new and exciting development.
The Sustainability Framework provides a roadmap for licensing industry participants of every size and every level of engagement on Sustainability, from beginners to more experienced organizations. Here’s a snapshot of its guidance content:
· Establishing a Foundation to build short, medium, and long-term goals tailored to roles and responsibilities in the licensing business model
· Taking an assessment of how to achieve goals with business partners
· Identifying areas of opportunity for deeper engagement and progress
· Clarify resources and build capacity
· Set a timeline roadmap for implementing sustainable progress steps in the licensing program
· Emphasizes capacity building toward short, medium, and long-term goals and actions
UCLA Trademarks & Licensing encourages all licensees to take advantage of this great resource, downloadable free of charge here and to consider getting involved in the dialogue and action toward more sustainable licensing business.
